Gas Prices Jump

Last updated on Friday, December 23, 2011

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Gas prices jumped 30 cents in parts of central Indiana on Thursday, infuriating drivers hitting the road for the holidays.

Prices as low as $2.92 a gallon were spotted earlier in the week but had slowly been creeping upward before they spiked overnight, hitting $3.39 in the metro area.

Crude prices were up for the fourth straight day Thursday amid growing demand and concerns about global supply.

But many Hoosier drivers blamed the price spike on the upcoming holiday weekend and it's just holdiay gouging.

AAA listed Indiana's average price as $3.242 a gallon for regular unleaded
