(HIGHLAND) - The town of Highland fired 33-year-old Highland High School teacher Samuel Fies for inappropriate conduct with a female student.

School board members voted to reject Fies' letter of resignation and chose to terminate his contract.

Superintendent Michael Boskovich said administrators first received reports of allegations of inappropriate conduct with a student in mid-October. Fies was placed on administrative leave while highland police conducted a full investigation.
