(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Court of Appeals has ordered the appointment of a special prosecutor for the third trial of an ex-state trooper accused of killing his family, saying the current prosecutor’s intention to write a book about the case created an “irreversible” conflict of interest.
In its ruling Tuesday, the three-judge panel ruled Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson's book deal had made him an issue at David Camm's trial, even though the deal has since been dropped.
Camm remains in prison. He's accused of fatally shooting Kimberly Camm and their children - 5-year-old Jill and 7-year-old Bradley - at the family's home near Georgetown in 2000, about four months after he resigned from the state police.
Juries have twice convicted Camm on murder charges that were reversed on appeal.
