Monrovia Teacher Accused Of Rape Appears In Court

Last updated on Tuesday, November 1, 2011

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Monrovia High School teacher facing rape allegations made his first appearance in court Monday.

Daniel Goens heard charges of rape, criminal deviate conduct and child seduction read against him in Marion County Criminal Court 2.

The judge entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf.

A bond hearing was scheduled for Tuesday morning; he is currently being held on $40,000 bond. Goens' trial date has preliminarily been set for January 23.

He was placed on leave in September after a student reported a teacher was "sexting" her and then raped her.
