Indiana State Does "Active Shooter Drill"

Last updated on Friday, November 18, 2011

(UNDATED) - Safety on college campuses is one of the chief concerns for higher education due of recent tragedies on campuses across the country.

Indiana State, is looking for ways to prepare for such a disaster.

A loud siren blares across campus, while an intercom system tells students to seek shelter in a secure place.

Thursday, the university held what they call an "Active Shooter Drill." Normally, ISU holds something like this in education buildings.

This is the first time the drill took place in a residence hall. It's a test not just for students but the university. ISU police report that the building's hallways were empty within minutes of the drill, and most of the students secured themselves in their rooms.
