Former ISP Commander Guilty: Stealing, Forgery, Misconduct

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Former Indiana State Police post commander Lt. Dallard Tackett who is accused of stealing more than $91,000 in state money pleaded guilty Monday to six counts of forgery, one count of official misconduct and 10 counts of thef in Elkhart Superior Court.

Tackett admitted to misappropriating funds from the Toll Road Post between 2007 and 2010.

The 60-year-old Tackett retired as commander of the Toll Road post near Elkhart last year when state police launched an investigation of him.

Prosecutors charged him with taking money intended for the state police and putting it in his own personal accounts.

Tackett faces a maximum 50 years in prison when he is sentenced by Judge Stephen Bowers on Jan. 30.
