(UNDATED) - All Dubois County law enforcement agencies could soon be linked together with a new comprehensive, multi-level communications system.
The system would equip all local and county law enforcement agencies, police officers, county deputies, and Town Marshalls with latest technology that will give them up to the minute information about a suspect in a crime, or even a driver who's been pulled over for a traffic violation.
Dubois County Council President Greg Kendall says the new communications system will provide officer's immediate information about someone's driving record, arrest record, and most importantly, whether or not a person has an outstanding arrest warrant.
The new system will provide laptop computers in all Dubois County law enforcement vehicles all linked directly to the Dubois County communications center.
The initial cost of the new system is about 900-thousand dollars. Kendall says state grant money is available to help pay for it.
