Clean Up Begins At Former United Energy Plant

Last updated on Wednesday, November 30, 2011

(TROY) - Spencer County Commissioners have given its approval for the Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission to apply for a state grant to help clean up the former United Energy plant site near Troy.

Commissioners say the site west of Troy along Indiana Highway 66 has numerous oil and fuel storage leaks and needs to be cleaned up.

The grant that's being applied for is 200-thousand dollars. The county has already started work at the United Energy plant after getting other state grant funding for hazardous material cleanup at the site.
