Bronze Cherub Returns To Downtown Indy

Last updated on Friday, November 25, 2011

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The bronze cherub has made its annual appearance overlooking downtown Indianapolis.

The sculpture made its debut in 1946 atop the clock at what then was the LS Ayres department store, as a celebration of the store's 75th anniversary.

It's reappeared every year on Thanksgiving Eve except 1992 and 1993, when may department stores moved it to its headquarters in St. Louis. The store chain donated the cherub to the city in 1994.
