Woman Fights With Police During Arrest

Last updated on Tuesday, October 25, 2011

(BUCKSKIN) - Indiana State Police say a 27-year-old Audrey Martinez, of Petersburg, drove her car into a soybean field, then fought troopers who tried to arrest her.

Sunday morning at approximately 2:00 a.m., Indiana State Police arrested Martinez for driving while intoxicated and resisting law enforcement.

An ISP news release says Martinez was traveling northbound on SR 57 near Buckskin when she drove left of center, left the roadway and came to a stop in a soybean field. When troopers and other emergency personnel arrived they detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage say Martinez was drunk.

When Martinez was arrested and handcuffed she fought with officers and refused to get in the patrol car.

She is currently being held on bond in the Gibson County Jail.
