(TERRE HAUTE) (WISH) - Shadow, a German shepherd, was serving alongside his Terre Haute Police Department partner, Officer Brent Long, the day the officer was shot and killed.
Now, memorials to both will keep the memory of their service together alive.
Shadow was shot in the face, but recovered. Long, however, died after being shot by a suspect on July 11.
A street in Terre Haute was already dubbed Brent Long Memorial Way. Now, a trail that runs alongside the street has been renamed Shadow's Trail. The fallen officer's family - along with Shadow - dedicated the trail Tuesday.
