Last updated on Thursday, October 6, 2011

(NOBLESVILLE) - Harry Potter fans know the game quidditch, played on flying broomsticks in the books and movies, but there’s a real-life quidditch tournament coming to Indy.

Conner Prairie will be hosting the largest quidditch tournament ever held in the Midwest this weekend.

Hannah Lindgren, tournament director for the International Quidditch Association Midwest Cup and founder of the Ball State quidditch team, explains how the game is played without flying broomsticks.

Lindgren says there will 18 teams and over 300 athletes participating in the tournament which will start off with several round robins. Those winners will then go into a double elimination playoff bracket.

Gates open at 9:00 each morning with games starting at 10:00. Both Ball State and Purdue will be represented from Indiana.
