KY. Boy Kills Self After Being Bullied

Last updated on Thursday, October 20, 2011

(TAYLOR MILL, Ky.) (AP) -The parents of a northern Kentucky eighth-grader hope their son’s suicide after being bullied will help stem the abuse middle school students sometimes are subjected to.

The 13-year-old Woodland Middle School student, fatally shot himself in his bedroom in his family's home in Kenton County on Friday.

His parents don't want new laws and they don't want the students who bullied their son prosecuted. They just want bullying to stop.

The parents say they were at a loss about why their son killed himself until about 150 people gathered on their lawn for a vigil on Saturday and named those who had bullied their son. The boy's funeral will be Friday evening.
