INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indianapolis judge will hear arguments Nov. 23 on whether Republican Secretary of State Charlie White should be allowed to remain in office.

The Indianapolis Star reported Monday that Marion Circuit Judge Louis Rosenberg set the date on Democrats' petition for his review of an Indiana Recount Commission decision in June backing White. They allege he was illegally registered to vote at his ex-wife's address when he declared his candidacy for the office.

Even if Rosenberg upholds the panel's decision, White could lose his job if he's convicted of any of the seven felony charges - including theft and voter fraud - filed against him in Hamilton County and stemming from the same voter registration. White has asked a judge to drop the charges. His trial is scheduled for Jan. 30.
