Ex-Sen. Bayh Calls Vote Fraud Allegations Baseless

Last updated on Friday, October 14, 2011

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Former Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh says voter fraud allegations raised against him and his wife by embattled Republican Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White are baseless.

White filed documents this week with the Marion County prosecutor's office requesting that an independent prosecutor investigate whether the Bayhs voted fraudulently in Indiana's May Democratic primary using an Indianapolis address when both resided primarily in Washington.

White faces criminal charges including voter fraud for listing his ex-wife's Fishers home on his voter registration.

Bayh dismissed White's challenge in a statement calling White's situation "factually and legally different than mine."

Bayh is a Democrat who didn't seek re-election to the Senate last year.
