Woman Accused Of Starting Fire That Killed Her Husband

Last updated on Friday, September 30, 2011

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A Catholic school music teacher and her son are accused of conspiring to start a fatal house fire.

62-year-old Gwen Kirch, a music teacher at St. Pius X Catholic School, pleaded not guilty Thursday to three counts of arson and a single count of conspiracy to commit arson in the fire that killed her husband.

The Marion County Prosecutor's office is pursuing those same charges against her son, Thomas Kirch, but a judge must still decide whether to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Thomas Kirch is in the military and is currently stationed in Germany. A summons has been issued for Thomas to appear in court on October 26.

57-year-old Dave Kirch was found dead on the floor of his master bedroom following the April 2007 fire at his home on the Northside of Indianapolis.
