(WASHINGTON D.C.)- U.S Senator Dan Coats is speaking out about the attack at the U.S Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Three police officers and one civilian were killed in the attack and at least 18 others were hurt. The Indiana senator says the attack is likely the work of those who want to defeat the efforts of democracy in the region.

Coats says the U.S. Has made significant gains against the Taliban and Al Qaida despite resistance. Coats says lawmakers are working on improving response time to attacks on U.S. Facilities abroad.

He says the U.S. Can't respond to every hot spot, but must focus on the most troubled spots in an effort to prevent more attacks from occurring on U.S. Soil.
