(MUNCIE) - A Muncie police officer was injured in a chase of a robbery suspect Friday.

Indiana State Police say a man accused of robbing two women at a Muncie store led authorities on a chase that reached nearly 100 miles per hour.

Officer Chris Wells was injured after he got out of his vehicle to stop the suspect and was struck and pinned against another vehicle. He was airlifted to a Muncie Hospital.

The chase ended when the suspect hit a semi head-on a short time later.
