Restaurant Chain Hosts Fundraiser For Slain Officer

Last updated on Tuesday, August 9, 2011

(TERRE HAUTE) - A partnership between the Terre Haute police department and a restaurant chain will raise money for the family of slain officer Brent Long.

Buffalo Wild Wings will host the fundraiser at 6 locations around the state for the next two months. Every Monday through August and September, patrons of the restaurant who mention Brent Long's name to their server will have 10-percent of their bill donated to his family.

Participating locations include Terre Haute, Clarksville, Plainfield, Lawrence, and two locations in Evansville.

Terre Haute Police Chief John Plasse says the response from the community has been overwhelming in the amount of support and willingness to help support Long's family as well as the other officers who are mourning his loss.

The Terre Haute City Council is working to determine a permanent location for a memorial to the fallen officer.
