Questions Remain Following Stage Collapse

Last updated on Thursday, August 18, 2011

(STATEHOUSE) - Following the disaster at the state fair last Saturday, questions are coming in regarding possible legislation to prevent incidents like this in the future.

State Senator Tom Wyss, Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee says he's not sure if legislation needs to be created but something does need to be done to prevent future problems.

Senator Wyss says everyone should wait and see what kind of information comes from the various investigations.

Senator Jim Merritt, member of the Senate Public Safety Committee and the State Fair Advisory Board takes a similar position. He says there are too many questions to be answered before any legislation is contemplated.

However, Senator Merritt says he assumes that some sort of legislation will mostly likely be created.
