No Word From State Rep. Hinkle Following Accusations

Last updated on Tuesday, August 23, 2011

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A week and a half after an Indianapolis teenager publicly accused a state legislator of paying to meet him at a downtown hotel, there’s no indication of whether the lawmaker plans to step down.

Indianapolis Representative Phil Hinkle hasn't responded to calls and emails seeking comment. Marion County Republican Chairman Kyle Walker has called on Hinkle to resign.

State Chairman Eric Holcomb, who would be in charge of calling a caucus to replace Hinkle, says he hasn't spoken to the six-term legislator. He does say the situation needs to be resolved "sooner rather than later."
