(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis police are investigating the shooting of an officer on the city's west side Friday night.

Officer Dustin Carmack was responding to a report of a disturbance or fight on the west side. He briefly chased a suspect who was later arrested.

Carmack was doing paperwork in his police car when he was shot in the hip. He was taken to an area hospital in good condition.

The suspect drove off in a silver Ford Taurus, Mercury Sable or Honda.

It's not known if the suspect in the fight had anything to do with the shooting.
