INDOT Fires Worker For Safety Oversight

Last updated on Wednesday, August 24, 2011

(LAPORTE) - The Indiana Department of Transportation fired a worker involved in the death of another INDOT worker in June and the agency modified its safety policies to avoid another tragedy.

Laporte District Chief of Staff Angie Fegaras said Michael Hatch was dismissed for not following established policies.

The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration leveled a nearly $1,900 dollar fine against INDOT in connection with the June 16th accident that killed 54-year-old Tony Northcutt.
