(INDIANAPOLIS) - The greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce is taking their own look into the education issues not only in Indianapolis but all over the state.
Chamber of Commerce of Strategic Affairs Tammie Barney says they have put together a coalition of interests to raise awareness and find solutions to education problems in Indiana. Barney says they have to be concerned with those issues.
Barney says the members of the coalition agree on several pillars of education reform that need to take place including parental involvement, school governance and teacher accountability.
Barney adds they have spoken with several members of the community including IPS Superintendent Dr. Eugene White, Mayor Greg Ballard and Ballard's Democratic Opponent Melina Kennedy. Barney says they will also be working with the state once the school turnaround procedures are in place.
More information on the coalition can be found at www.indyeducation911.com.
