Henry County Woman Faces Sentencing Hearing In Officer's Death

Last updated on Monday, August 1, 2011

(GREENFIELD, IN) - A Henry County woman faces a sentencing hearing this morning.

Sue Ann Vanderbeck pleaded guilty to hitting and killing Greenfield Police Officer Will Phillips with her car while he was out riding his bike last September.

Two police officer colleagues were with Phillips at the time.

They say Vanderbeck left the scene of the crash on U.S. 40 near the Henry/Hancock County Line.

She faced a felony charge of failure to stop after an accident causing death.

As part of a plea deal, she faces home detention for two years and losing her driver's license for six months.

Court documents indicate Vanderbeck reportedly realized the incident after hearing about it on the news.
