(HAMMOND, IN) - Former Merrillville nose doctor Mark Weinberger is asking that his criminal trial next January be moved from federal court in Hammond to a federal courtroom in South Bend or Fort Wayne, because of the extensive media coverage of his case.
Weinberger faces 22 counts of health care fraud, for allegedly performing unnecessary surgeries or none at all and charging patients and insurers.
He's already lost one civil court lawsuit case over the surgeries.
