(STATEHOUSE) - Dozens of protesters gathered outside the statehouse Thursday evening in opposition to several controversial new laws going into effect.

Alison Luthe, Central Indiana Jobs With Justice, explains why her organization is protesting new laws already approved by the Indiana General Assembly.

"Legislators think that they can turn us against each other, walk over one group, pit one group against each other," Luthe said.

"The number of organizations that are represented, and the individuals that are learning about each other's cause, will make us stronger in 2012."

Central Indiana Jobs With Justice was joined by representatives from Planned Parenthood, Indiana AFL-CIO and in Stonewall Dems.

The groups are upset by several laws, including ones that slash funding to Planned Parenthood and limit state workers' collective bargaining rights.
