One In Custody Following 4-Year-Old's Shooting

Last updated on Monday, July 25, 2011

(OSSIAN, IN) - One person is in custody in the death of a 4-year-old Indiana boy who authorities say was fatally shot while fishing with his father.

The Wells County Sheriff's Department says 46-year-old Bruce Pond was charged with reckless homicide Saturday in the death of his neighbor, 4-year-old Jacob Michuba of Ossian.

The boy was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say the boy was fishing with his father and his father's friend Friday night when the shots were fired.

Investigators believe alcohol was involved and that pond apparently shot at a light on the pier where they were fishing.
