Officials Urging Federal Government To Make Decision On New Carbon Motors Plant

Last updated on Wednesday, July 6, 2011

(CONNERSVILLE, IN) - Local and state officials are pressing the federal government to make a decision on $310-million in loans for the New Carbon Motors Plant in Connersville.

The plant is slated to create 1500 new jobs at the old Visteon plant in Fayette County.

Connersville Mayor Leonard Urban says he believes a decision will be made "soon."

Urban says the company has thousands of orders, but can't do much without that loan.

The loan is supposed to come from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Carbon Motors makes energy-efficient police cruisers.

The Atlanta-based company announced it was moving to Connersville back in 2009.
