(UNDATED) - State officials unveiled a new vehicle that will soon patrol Indiana highway construction zones.
The Indiana Department of Transportation and state police call it the INDOT Stealth Vehicle Program.
They're three, white Ram 1500 pickup trucks that are equipped with police lights, sirens, radios and radar.
State Police will patrol highways in an effort to promote safe driving in or near construction zones.
Major Brent Johnson says four out of five people killed in highway construction zones are motorists and not construction workers.
Authorities say causes are: improper lane changes, following too closely and failure to yield right of way.
They hope the white vehicles and the officers driving them will cause motorists to be more alert and law abiding.
INDOT says the vehicles cost $32,000 each and carry the INDOT name but driven by state police.
