(UNDATED) - An Indiana law firm has filed a class-action lawsuit against the maker of a controversial herbicide.
The lawsuit alleges that Imprelis, a chemical herbicide made by Dupont, is killing Blue Spruce and White Pine Trees.
Mario Massillamany with the law firm Starr, Austen & Miller says they're alleging Dupont failed to disclose the risk of Imprelis to trees even when applied as directed and failed to provide instructions for the safe application of the product.
Massillamany says there have been thousands of complaints in the state of Indiana and more complaints in other states including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Pennsylvania.
The lawsuit is seeking compensation in the form of removal of the affected trees, treatment for grounds still saturated with Imprelis, and other damages incurred from the destruction of trees at businesses and homes.
Mark Thompson, Golf Operations Director at RN Thompson and Associates which owns several golf courses around Indiana, says the trees are dying a slow death, taking nearly a month to die.
Thompson says they've seen numerous trees affected in different stages at their golf courses.
