(GREENFIELD, IN) - The woman accused of leaving the scene of an accident that killed a Greenfield Police Officer has reached a plea deal with prosecutors.
Attorney Steve Litz says 61-year-old Sue Ann Vanderbeck plead guilty to a felony charge of failing to stop after an accident resulting in death.
Litz says in exchange for her plea, the state agreed to recommend a sentence of four years to home detention which effectively means that she'll serve two real years on home detention.
Litz says the prosecution made the offer for the deal after the judge agreed to exclude some of Vanderbeck's statements.
Officer William Phillips was off duty when he was killed on September 30th, 2010 while riding his bicycle with other officers.
Vanderbeck said she was distracted by her three children in the car at the time of the crash.
