(FRANKLIN, IN) - Three years after the June 7th, 2008, flood devastated many homes and businesses in Franklin and Johnson County, Emergency Management officials say the community is more prepared to handle natural disasters.
Sutton Forrest, EMA Director for Johnson County, says a "CO-AD," or Community Organizations Active in Disaster Group, has been created to organize volunteer efforts in the wake of similar situations.
He notes although there's no way to stop flooding caused by relentless rainfall, residents can be ready to respond to it.
The Johnson County Emergency Management Agency also actively promotes a program called "CERT" or Community Emergency Response Team in hopes of educating people about the important of family preparedness.
