(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis city leaders met Tuesday afternoon to discuss ways to counter a recent spike in gun violence.

U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett described the gathering with Public Safety Director Frank Straub, Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry And Marion County Sheriff John Layton as a "productive" and vigorous" discussion about strategies to reduce violent crime throughout the community. But he declined to elaborate on specific plans being implemented by their respective offices.

Hogsett did indicate that it makes sense for local law enforcement to focus resources on high-crime areas.
