(LAWRENCE, IN) - Carjackers near Geist crashed into a vehicle on purpose as a distraction.
Police say the point is to catch you off guard, pull a gun and speed away in your car.
Lawrence Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff says if it's a minor crash, drive to a well lit, safe area, then immediately call police.
Other tips include drive with your windows up and doors locked.
