(UNDATED) - Sixth District Congressman Mike Pence is expected to formally announce his bid for governor this morning.

The 10:00AM conference call with supporters had originally been scheduled for Monday, but was postponed when the death of Osama Bin Laden dominated the day's news coverage.

Observers have little doubt pence will run, and a blank email sent to a pence mailing list appears to confirm it: the congressman's new letterhead is captioned "Mike Pence for Indiana."

Former Hamilton County Councilman Jim Wallace has already announced his own bid for the Republican nomination, while former Attorney General Steve Carter is weighing a run.

Former House Speaker John Gregg has been laying groundwork to seek the Democratic nomination.

IUPUI Political Analyst Brian Vargus says Pence starts out with some big advantages: he's in sync with solidly conservative Indiana, and he's far better known statewide than Gregg, thanks to his time as a t-v and radio talk-show host.
