New Security Team Coming To Methodist Hospital

Last updated on Wednesday, May 18, 2011

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - A new security team is coming to I.U. Health Methodist Hospital.

The Polly H. Hix Foundation K-9 Security Team is coming to the hospital, not only to provide extra security but to also help with patient interaction.

Vice President of Operations at I.U. Health Pitt Thompson says there wasn't a specific security issue that caused the need for the extra security.

Thompson says hospital officials looked at a similar program at a hospital in Arizona and wanted to expand on it.

He says the K-9 units will have the same training as regular law enforcement K-9 officers.

The K-9 officers will not only be patrolling the hospital building but also the parking lots and garages near Methodist Hosptial as well.
