Last updated on Wednesday, May 18, 2011

(UNDATED) - The first U.S. face transplant recipient shares her story with more than 350 healthcare workers from Indiana during a conference aimed at improving the organ donation process.

48-year-old Connie Culp says she is living proof that organ transplants can transform lives in ways never thought possible.

Culp was shot in the face by her husband in 2004.

Culp received the face of Ana Kasper, who suffered a fatal heart attack two weeks before Christmas in 2008.
