Decision Expected Today On Planned Parenthood Case

Last updated on Wednesday, May 11, 2011

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - A federal judge in Indianapolis is expected to rule on a controversial case today.

Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana are seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent an anti-abortion bill from taking effect.

Governor Daniels signed the bill Tuesday.

It bars groups, apart from hospitals and ambulatory centers, from providing abortion services.

The groups filed their restraining order late yesterday on grounds that it's unconstitutional and violates federal law.

U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Walton Pratt took arguments Tuesday under advisement and is expected to return Wednesday at noon with a decision on the stay.
