(INDIANAPOLIS) - Fort Wayne is weighing whether to hit a regional sewer district with a six-figure bill for allegedly dodging a city water meter.
A state audit accuses the former president of the Maysville regional water and sewer board of personally installing a bypass valve so sewage would go around a flow meter on its way to the Fort Wayne filtration plant.
Auditors estimate Maysville was underbilled at least $150,000 dollars over three years.
Board President James Perrin has already repaid $16,000 dollars in charges for purchases auditors say weren't properly documented, plus $10,000 more in interest and audit costs.
