(CROWN POINT, IN) - Criminal charges have been filed against two Lake County residents in connection to the death of Christian Choate.
The boy's father, 39-year-old Riley Choate and stepmother, Kimberly Kubina will appear in court this morning.
Prosecutors said Choate and Kubina kept the boy locked in a dog cage and repeatedly beat him if he didn't behave.
The boy lived in the cage every day for more than a year, until his death on April 5th, 2009.
