Ball State Economists Say Indiana Is Bouncing Back From Recession

Last updated on Tuesday, May 17, 2011

(MUNCIE, IN) - A Ball State University Economist says Indiana is bouncing back from the recession much faster and stronger than anticipated.

Director of Ball State's Center for Business and Economic Research Mike Hicks says research finds evidence of a more uniform growth of the economy in Indiana in the unemployment numbers and the manufacturing sector.

Hick attributes this success to three main factors. He says the state's fiscal standing and lack of unstructured debt is a strength that attracts new business to the state.

Hicks says Indiana does well in the global marketplace and always scores high on all metrics of measuring exports.

Hicks also thinks Indiana's workforce and location are a strength.
