New Police Chief For Greenwood Following Firing

Last updated on Friday, April 1, 2011

(GREENWOOD, IN) - Two weeks after firing Greenwood Police Chief Joe Pitcher, Mayor Charles Henderson announces his successor.

48-year-old Lt. Rick McQueary becomes the new leader of the department after spending 26 years in other roles on the force.

Former Chief Pitcher was removed from the post earlier this month for his handling of an officer accused of drunken misconduct at a local restaurant.

That officer, nick dine, was given a five-day suspension and ordered to seek counseling.

McQueary plans to evaluate supervisors and require leadership training as a result of the incident.

33-year-old Sgt. Jim Ison is the department's new assistant chief.

40-year-old Veteran Detective Matt Fillenwarth becomes the Deputy Chief.
