Hoosier Families Rally Against Medicaid Provision

Last updated on Wednesday, April 27, 2011

(STATEHOUSE) - Hoosier families rallied against a provision in the state budget that would tie Medicaid waivers to parental income.

Dozens of families Tuesday spoke out against legislation that they believe would lead to thousands of disabled children losing important health care coverage.

Jennifer Akers says her daughter, grace, would likely be forced into a nursing home.

Under the bill, the Akers family would lose the Medicaid waiver because her husband's salary as a teacher exceeds income guidelines.
