Dozens Gather At Site Of Robert Kennedy Speech To Honor Dr. Martin Luther King

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Dozens of people gathered at the site of the famous speech by Robert Kennedy on Monday to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King.

Kennedy broke the news of King's assassination to a large crowd at 17th and Broadway in Indianapolis.

As many cities across the country reacted to the assassination with violence, Kennedy's words calmed the climate in the circle city and helped people express their emotions in a peaceful manner.

The 7th Annual Making The Dream A Reality Service included remarks from Mayor Greg Ballard and a recorded message from Congressman Andre Carson.

Indiana State Representative William Crawford was there when Kennedy gave his speech, he says he "blessed to able to meet some contemporary giants who forged a mission for peace and justice."
