Congressman Pence Talks Government Shutdown

Last updated on Friday, April 8, 2011

(WASHINGTON, DC) - We are less than 24 hours away from a possible government shutdown unless house republicans and democrats can come to some kind of agreement on the budget.

Indiana Sixth District Congressman Mike Pence is supportive of the budget plan submitted by Republican Paul Ryan.

He says the proposals within that budget are necessary.

Under the Ryan plan, the federal budget would be cut $6.2 trillion dollars over ten years, reduce taxes and reform entitlements in an effort to grow the economy.

Pence was adamant that reforms would not affect seniors already on Social Security and Medicare.

House Democrats and the Obama Administration rejected the proposal, as well as a one week extension that would stave off a government shutdown.
