Smoking Ban Passes First Committee

Last updated on Thursday, January 20, 2011

(INDIANA STATEHOUSE) - A statewide smoking ban has passed it’s first committee.

The House Public Health Committee voted 9-3 in favor of the bill.

The bill exempts horse racing facilities and riverboats.

Part of an amendment exempting cigar bars was deleted.

Representative Charlie Brown says he didn't "want to leave the door open for other bars to say not include us."

A statewide smoking ban has passed the house 4 times, only to fail in the senate.
