(MERRILLVILLE, IN) - Dozens of people have offered to adopt a newborn baby girl that was left on the doorstep of a Merrillville couple’s home last week.

Merrillville Police say more than 40 people called seeking to adopt the girl who was left wrapped in a sweater in a cardboard box on the porch of Gerald and Angela Croarkin.

The Croarkin's found the baby Friday in near single digit temperatures.

The infant is doing well at Methodist Hospital's Southlake Campus in Merrillville.
