(UNDATED) - A southern Indiana mine has received the U.S. Department of Labor’s highest honor for safety.
The Peabody Energy Coal Mine in Farmersburg received the sentinels of safety award.
The mine earned the award for successfully completing nearly 699,000 work hours without a single safety incident in 2009.
It is the second time the Sullivan County facility has earned the distinction.
The first award was bestowed in 2006.
