11-Year-Old Student Struck, Killed By Car

(NEW CASTLE, IN) - Two boys were struck by a car on a county road near a New Castle Elementary School Thursday morning.

11-year-old Dalton Hatfield of New Castle, was killed.

17-year-old Donald Wethington of New Castle was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Investigators say the driver of the car, 49-year-old Penny Bowman of New Castle, is a teacher for New Castle Community Schools.

The incident happened around 7:15AM near Westwood Elementary School as the boys walked along County Road 100 South.
